FreakFest 2024

About this list

Every year I take 11 or so days off work for "vacation". My so-called vacation is an extended horror film marathon. Every day for this period of time I watch films I have never seen before (or haven't seen in so long it's basically like I've never seen them). I have to watch 50 films in less than 2 weeks time. Everyone tells me this is so many movies and it may seem overwhelming sometimes, however, I enjoy the challenge and the feeling when I have completed the list is amazing. 2024 was the 2nd year I did this Marathon, but really the First where I kept track of what I watched and also the first year that I started making rules. Those rules are simple. 1) Watch 50 horror films. 2) Must be movies I haven't seen. 3) 25 of the films are physically bought and 25 are streamed. 4) The films must all be watched by Midnight on Halloween night. 5) I must watch 1 entire franchise. ......That's it. So anyway, this is what I watched in 2024. I'll be making lists for the following years as well. Oh and I also, because I simply get too excited every year for this Marathon, every horror or Halloween movie that I watch leading up to the beginning of the marathon is considered a lead up and/or rewatch. And sometimes there are movies I watch that are not technically part of my prepared Marathon watchlist, these are considered Bonuses. I think that's everything....On the list here, if it doesn't say Lead Up, Rewatch, or Bonus, then it is part of the official watchlist. Also, the movies are listed in order that I watched them. I use a spin wheel to determine what order I watch. The only rewatch that counts towards the Marathon is ones that part of the Franchise pick for the year. This year the Franchise was Critters. I have a box set of the first 4 so unfortunately, I did not actually watch all of them but it is what it is. I was still figuring stuff out. Actually, I think I watched 2 franchises this year because I had the 2 boxsets and I wanted to watch them. 3 boxsets technically, but the 3rd one isn't a franchise, just a producer set. I don't know how but somehow, this year I had miscounted and had 52 movies in my official watchlist.
