Best experienced on a Manga Video VHS with a 5-minute trailer for 'Fist of the North Star' before it (this was actually my experience for 'Perfect Blue' but it should have been my experience for 'Akira'.
For the vibes, yes. But also, this movie holds up in 4k in ways that very few others from the period do.
