Armando Salas, ASC, is a cinematographer. Born in Havana, Cuba, he immigrated to the United States during the Mariel boatlift. He grew up in Miami, where his passion for filmmaking took root. As a teenager, he began shooting skateboarding videos and experimenting with Super 8 films while attending the New World School of the Arts.

Salas earned a BFA from the Maryland Institute College of Art, where he pioneered a focus on narrative film production within a fine arts setting and developed a distinct visual voice. He received an MFA from Florida State University’s College of Motion Picture Arts, where he was awarded the prestigious Jacob K. Javits Fellowship and won the 2002 American Society of Cinematographers Student Heritage Award.

After refining his craft on independent films and commercials, Salas transitioned into television, earning critical acclaim and an Emmy nomination for his work on Ozark. His recent credits include The Old Man starring Jeff Bridges, the Apple TV+ sci-fi drama Invasion, and The Terminal List, where he partnered with director Antoine Fuqua on the pilot episode. His upcoming work includes Netflix’s limited series Griselda, starring Sofía Vergara, and Marvel’s new series Wonder Man.
